@ferz Somehow I personally don't think the Dalai Lama was replaced or that he even is the direct incarnation of who the last Dalai Lama was.
Something tells me the soul they sought was found, but the original Dalai Lama never reincarnated to be the current Dalai Lama. It's not a sham or anything, it's just like a long distance relationship; complicated.
So, in a sense, your idea makes sense. It has a great grain of intuition.
