Reality can be harsh and a coping mechanism via escapism is created, providing the person with an interesting escape and diversion from whatever is going on in that person's life.

Ferz, of course, I'm afraid you're quite an extreme example. These beliefs and strange connection surely occupy you and provide you with relief and escape, but you have to let them go and deal with what's happening in your life NOW.
If not things get worse and worse and that's how you wind up with a very serious delusional disorder. I should know because I had one until Brian helped me.
