Responsibility

Don't we have to take care of our lives right now and live a good life? Sometimes you are a mere "past life". Are we wasting our time? Why aren't most of us seeking for liberation from karma? I still have thoughts and feelings of a past life. She was a frivolous young woman. A Zen-Buddhist from my future reassured that he had had much trouble with my thoughts. Since we are here now, why not to take life seriously and practice serious morals and meditation? I think the worst problem are sloth and impatience.

  • An excerpt from the book "The State of Mind Called Beautiful" (Sayadaw Pandita)
"Ignorance, craving and clinging are causes of this existence and of all previous existences. They will also cause future existences unless meditators take care of them right here and now, in this life. At this stage of meditation, the practitioner will feel that the cause of action (kamma) lies in ignorance, craving and clinging, and that the same will hold true in the future."

  • To know the past and future with certainty, we must be able to perceive the truth of our present condition, which turns out to be rather disappointing.

There's nothing great about the stink of Zen. Whether it wafts in from the past, present or future. It is still obviously a product of delusion.

If the moon represents enlightenment, then the Zen master is simply the finger that points at it.
