To fast is a widely used way to attain mental cleanliness. To stop eating, namely junk, also affects the mind, in a beneficial way. We don´t attain mystical states just by stopping stuffing ourselves with food but it does help in making things be clearer. The most I was without eating was 17 days, now I will be 16. The objective is to help me getting rid of black energy that is launched against me every day, it will give me some clarity and focus. If I don´t succeeed I will die, so it´s a win-win situation, right? It´s a battle, I´ll win it.

The point may be SELF-denial, but there's still self involved here, so...
FAIL?
Fasting for long periods of time such as in Sallekhana or as a form of punishment is still self-harm. Not saying I personally haven't done that, but it takes a masochist and a sadist to go into self-harm.

Also, SELF-harm. Why can't a person just be and focus, mindfully, on breathe or on the other persons around him or her?

When I was ill, they called fasting for days anorexia, not the road to spiritual enlightenment. And anorexia stems from
fear, anxiety and a need for control, which stems from self.

To release self is not really to even deny self.

Everyone wants a fast fix for things, but the truth is that anything worth attaining takes patience, time and a lot of discipline.

And it's not about who wins or who loses, that's just petty.

Jesus fasted for 40 days. Budha fasted so much that one day when feeling his stomach he felt his backbone. Fasting by itself is just a physical act, it does not lead directly to anything. It´s just a way to "clean the pipes", the mental ones that is. If Budha and Jesus did it there is some value to it. The objectives have nothing to do with anorexia or self punishment, on the contrary.
