We can only achieve results via strategy. And yet, strategies can only be concocted based on how a problem is viewed, through which lens it is perceived. Like a looking glass.
And yet here we are, the scientific method inherently possesses a number of holes. It is imperfect by its very nature and yet, so systematic it had provided us with a better understanding of our world and universe. The mathematical method is related to the scientific method nowadays, although numbers can be perceived in odd ways completely apart from science.
These two methods, to our modern minds, deal with concrete facts.
But what about Magick? Mysticism? This method?
It's a dangerous method. Manipulation is inherently wrong, period. And Mysticism must always be approached with ultra-caution, lest delusion set in.
Of these methods, when making sense of the world, which one provides us with discernment, and ultimately, truth?
It's funny because delusion is the antipode of truth. You have a lot of experience. How many students have you seen fall into delusion where they ought to have fallen into the realm of Truth? It's a very tight rope to walk.
And yet science, it's safe. Absolutely safe. And yet... limiting. The Truth, absolute Truth, can never be reached through such a controlled method.

Understanding through numbers vs. manipulating the world around you.
I personally suffered from this as a teenager.
